Danine Ezell was born and educated in California. She received
a BA in Zoology from Pomona College, and a Ph.D. in Zoology from
the University of California, Berkeley. After several years of
teaching and/or research at various institutions in Vancouver,
British Columbia and Madison Wisconsin, she returned with her
family to San Diego. Here after a hiatus of several years, she
taught a variety of biology courses at San Diego City College
and at the University of San Diego. In 1983 she received a California
Teaching Credential from the University of San Diego, and since
1984 has taught science at Bell Junior High School in San Diego.
She served as a Mentor Teacher for several years. Currently she
is the Coordinator of Bell's Computer-Mathematics-Science Magnet
Program.
In addition to her duties at Bell Junior High School, Danine
is actively involved in science education reform efforts at both
the national and local levels. She has worked with Project 2016
since 1989, and is currently Curriculum Assessment Coordinator
and Center Director for San Diego Project 2016. She also participated
in the development of the National Science Education Standards
as a member of the Content Working Group. She continues to be
involved in the national effort to implement science standards,
and locally is contributing to reform of Middle Level Science
in San Diego.
