from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his Ph.D.
in Physical Chemistry from University of California, Irvine.
Prior to joining GA, he held senior research scientist and group
leader positions at Ford Aerospace, Rockwell, Western Digital
and McDonnell Douglas, where he was involved in developing IR
sensor arrays, CMOS devices, displays, and smart materials. He
has expertise in Electrochemistry, Surface Science, Solid State
Devices and Thin Film Technology. Since joining GA, Dr. Ziegler
has established a program to develop chemical sensors and active
visible and infrared materials for display and solar energy applications.
Dr. Ziegler has more than 50 publications and presentations
in leading journals and conferences. He was the co-organizer
of the Second International Meeting on Electrochromism and the
guest editor of a special edition of Solar Energy Materials and
Solar Cells. He is a member of the American Chemical Society,
the Electrochemical Society, the Materials Research Society,
and the American Vacuum Society.
Dr. Ziegler has a strong interest in education outreach for
children in grades K-12. He is interested in both the intellectual
