1. Item # GASEF 001 Student Color Kit

Cut 6 color wheels out of the color wheel transparency. Cut the colored transparencies into small rectangles to demonstrate subtractive color mixing by overlapping cyan/magenta to produce blue, magenta/yellow to produce red, and yellow/cyan to produce green. Demonstrate how overlapping complementary colors of pigment produce black by overlapping cyan/red, magenta/green, and yellow/blue. Demonstrate how cyan, magenta, and yellow absorb a single primary color of light by overlapping the primary subtractive colors and the color wheel: overlapping cyan/color wheel shows how cyan pigment absorbs red light; overlapping magenta/color wheel shows how magenta pigment absorbs green light; overlapping yellow/color wheel shows how yellow pigment absorbs blue light. Use the red, green, and blue films in front of 2 or 3 slide projectors to demonstrate additive color mixing.

2. Item # GASEF 002 Teacher Demonstration Color Kit

Cut the eight wheels out of the 2 sheets of transparency. These wheels are useful for classroom demonstrations. Demonstrate that complementary colors lie on opposite sides of the color wheel by taking the 2 color wheels, rotating one them by 180 degrees, and then overlapping them to turn the entire overlapping parts of the 2 wheels black. Demonstrate how cyan, magenta, and yellow absorb a single primary color of light by overlapping the primary subtractive colors and the color wheel: overlapping cyan wheel/color wheel shows how cyan pigment absorbs red light; overlapping magenta wheel/color wheel shows how magenta pigment absorbs green light; overlapping yellow wheel/color wheel shows how yellow pigment absorbs blue light. Demonstrate how overlapping complementary colors of pigment produce black by overlapping cyan wheel/red wheel, magenta wheel/green wheel, and yellow wheel/blue wheel. Demonstrate how red, green, and blue pigments absorb two of the primary colors of light: overlap the red wheel/color wheel to show how red pigment absorbs green and blue light; overlap the green wheel/color wheel to show how green pigment absorbs red and blue light; and overlap the blue wheel/color wheel to show how blue pigment absorbs red and green light.

3. Item # GASEF 003 Deluxe Teacher Demonstration Color Kit

These large wheels are useful for classroom demonstrations.

4. Item # GASEF 004 Color Wheel Wall Chart Poster

This large colorful poster will provide a useful reference for classroom discussions of color mixing. The chart provides a side-by side comparison of additive (light) color mixing (on the left-hand side) with subtractive (pigment) color mixing (on the right hand side), so the relationship can be easily seen. The top section of the chart shows the color wheels and primary colors for both additive and subtractive colors. The middle section of the chart demonstrates the science of adding different primary colors of light and pigment, and shows how the color wheel can be used to predict the resultant colors. The bottom section of the chart describes complementary colors of light and pigment, again, in reference to the color wheel.

5. Item # GASEF 005 Color Gradient Transparency

Cut this sheet into 8 horizontal color strips: one each for R, G, B, C, M, Y, and two for black. Overlap and slide the CMYK strips to generate all of the colors that can be generated by a typical color printer. Compare the large range of colors that can be produced using CMY strips to the few colors that can be produced using RYB strips or RGB strips.

Each gradient strip shows a single hue, with different values of saturation. The more colored rectangles have higher saturation than the lighter colored rectangles. Each black gradient strip rectangle has a different value or lightness. The value or lightness of any colored rectangle can be changed by placing it on a black rectangle. So these strips are also useful for discussing the color model of hue, saturation, and lightness.

7. Item # GASEF 007 11 x 17 in. Color Wheel Wall Chart

This chart will provides a useful desk reference for the rules of color mixing.

12. Item # GASEF 012 Individual Color Envelope

Demonstrate subtractive color mixing by overlapping cyan/magenta to produce blue, magenta/yellow to produce red, and yellow/cyan to produce green.
